Thanks for sharing the very sad news James. Padraig helped me on my first
(and still only!) ever trip to Elland Road over 10 years back with great
tips on where to go to make the most of the trip.

RIP Padraig.

Folks,

Many of the older people on the list will remember Padraig well - a Dublin
White of 40+ years standing.? He appeared on the list with a bang in
late-94/early-95 - would need to check but am fairly sure.?

He was a beacon of light hereabouts for many years after that.?

He first got cancer about 7 years ago, got a clean bill of health, and went
on his merry way for another 5.5 years.? It came back into his life 18
months ago but was well for a year after that again.? It got aggressive in
the last 6 months and the prognosis was not good; so much so that the end
came, as his sister says below, very quickly!

May the man rest easy now, though he was very sanguine about it when I spoke
to him about five weeks ago and through a chain of e-mail I received from
him right up to a few days ago.

Our win at Donny will have sent him on his way a little happier than a draw
or defeat would have :-).

James.

Dear James,

I am, Brid, the sister of Padraig O'Conaill.? I am writing to you with
the sad news that Padraig passed away yesterday.? Although we had been
expecting it for some time the end came quicker than any of us expected
and I am sorry if the news appears sudden.

Best regards,

Brid

I'm a bit lost for words...

I really, really liked Padraig - top bloke, who was most welcoming to me
when I moved to Dublin in the 90's and needed help finding Leeds games, and
with locating the Supporters' Club etc.

I'm off to dig out my Dublin Branch S.C. shirt to wear in his honour...

Sad news indeed. Padraig was a member of this group in its heyday. Without
wishing to devalue the current crop of listers, during the late 90s when we all met in the Adelphi every home game and some pub or other away, the list
was a really active and fun place to be, both on and off line, and Padraig
was part of that. He was a really good bloke, and I enjoyed his company.

Cheers Padraig.

Sad news indeed, James. I exchanged emails a month ago with Padraig he was
stoic but positive about his condition. Padraig was also a member of the
Worldnet organisation and was a Usual Suspect. He'll be missed but not
forgotten eh?
