Nick Can't believe you rate Lees. He was at fault for the goal, he lost his man. He was also at fault when they hit the post. Daydreaming as usual.
No excuses for missing the open goal. He is not good enough and never will be. Rabbits and headlights come to mind. Totally agree about the 2 wingers - useless. Has BMcD signed any decent players? We had a structure, we had a passion and commitment, and no small invention which given that our midfield was Austin and Brown was a real surprise. As a reaction to Rochdale (I didn't see the Sheffield game) it was almost everything I could have asked for. We dominated the league leaders for the first half and should have had 3 or 4... What ifs... - if Ross had been in the form he was in 2 months ago - he is a confidence player, and that has gone at the minute - if they hadn't been so well marshalled as to get two players back behind the keeper to clear off the line twice - if their CHalf hadn't been pulling down on Lees' arm as he went for that header...so he was under the ball - and if the ref had seen it... - if our two new wingers had been remotely interested - if the ref had booked two of their's early on for hauling back players heading through on goal - he gave the free kicks so he saw the offences Their goal came from three minor mistakes - first Pearce being suckered by the dummy; then Lees moving in anticipation of Phillips taking the touch and hence being a step away from Nugent; Kenny being back on his heels as the whole thing unwound...all small things but they added up to the difference. in the second half it was a more even game but that just meant we both had chances to win it. Leicester will get promoted. KENNY - not much to do in truth, they had a few blasts at goal and hit the post, but he could't have done anything about them BYRAM - don't want him at right back, but he gave structure and reading other reports, apparently their winger Dyer is an in form danger man, and the consensus seems to be that Sam was effective at snuffing him out LEES - i maintain that he is our best defensive CHalf - he's not so hot on the ball - but he needs a run in the team without constantly looking over his shoulder - solid yesterday PEARCE - a really solid game, brave and quick into challenges WARNOCK - another v good LBack display (let's hope Pugh is now on his way to Rotherham or Bury or anywhere) the solidity of the back 4 was why Kenny had so little to do, and was probably also helped by having Brown and Austin directly in front of them. Both Byram and Warnock looked like they wanted to be overlapping fullbacks but the invisibility of their respective wingers meant they had no-one to link with. BROWN & AUSTIN - got stuck in, made nuisances of themselves all over the place, and occasionally popped up in attack - I don't pretend that this is the future but it is an answer for right now - I'd still prefer to see Byram and Mowatt flanking them, rather than KEBE & STEWART - who were chuffing mysteries to me yesterday - mainly absent - Kebe particularly guilty of not making the runs and giving people options, seem really disinterested VARNEY - mobile, committed, with reasonable pace and won more in the air in one game than Smith has managed all season long McCORMACK - a striker of his quality should have had 3 in 30 minutes - v disappointing - he bottled the one on one. Faded thereafter. The subs came too late - but Peltier for Kebe on to push Byram forward made sense...Diouf for Varney did not unless Varney was injured, the one to take off was Stewart. Heartening - but it is only one game - this is the level we expect now for the next two home games, at least, with the addition of winning the bloody things. I missed the game yesterday in favour of Rockliffe Hall and Spa for the wife's birthday and even missed the first half. I was unlucky enough to catch the second half and have to say I thought we were shit. Kebe reminds me so much of Brian Deane , but not nearly as effective. I think he had been on the juice with Eric cos his coordination was awful. Surely Poleon is a better option than Stewart who again looked unfit to me. Diouf did more than most in his 10 minute spell although his arse looks to have grown. > > So don't tell me we were good in the first half cos I don't believe you and anyone taking any positives from a 1-0 home defeat by bloody leicester is a fool. > > Right, double egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding awaits. > > Sent from my iPad > > >> On 18 Jan 2014, at 20:48, Jim Moran <j...@jimmoran.co.uk> wrote: >> >> Think Eric has been on the tripel karmeliet. >> >> -- >> >>> >> MARCHING ON TOGETHER > _______________________________________________ > Leedslist mailing list > Info and options: [1]http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist > To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org > > John 'Grampa' Sykes > Rest In Peace old lad > 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 > MARCHING ON TOGETHER _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: [2]http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org John 'Grampa' Sykes Rest In Peace old lad 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 MARCHING ON TOGETHER References 1. http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist 2. http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org John 'Grampa' Sykes Rest In Peace old lad 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 MARCHING ON TOGETHER
