My guess is that he DIDN'T get a tidy payoff. I think that was the whiole point of Cellino choosing him...........he was the only bloke prepared to accept what was basically a zero hours contract. Rather than get into the MU/Moyes situation where the manager is clearly failing but you can't afford to sack him, Cellino preferred to gamble on a no-name who might pay off, but if he doesn't he can be dispensed with painlessly.
Question is........will he be able to find anyone else to "coach" for him on those terms. Certainly no one with any decent track record is likely to accept them, but then again when you look at what the likes of Warnock & McDermott achieved, that may not be a bad thing. I suppose the speculation that it will be an Italian is probably accurate, but i doubt if it will be De Matteo.
