Before the game I said that of our injured players we might miss Berardi the
most, as he's always up for a physical battle. I was wrong. Jansson didn't go
missing today (although he played a couple of too casual passes). He and Cooper
were immense in defence. No, the players we missed the most were Hernandez and,
especially, Roofe. Roberts is a young lad coming back from a long layoff, so I
don't want to harp on his weaknesses too much. Suffice it to say I'd back the
Championship player of the month to have bagged at least one or two of the
chances Roberts squandered. We also missed Pablo's creativity. Harrison took
his goal well, but didn't do too much else besides. It's fairly obvious that
there's a significant drop-off in quality beyond Bielsa's preferred first XI
(plus maybe Jansson).
I also felt (as I did after the 'Boro game) that too often we opted for the
long ball when there were (or should have been) other options. We have one of
the smallest group of attackers in the division, so the point of lofting the
ball up so they can compete with the opposition's center-halves is lost on me.
So much of our good play has come from playing neat, confident triangles out of
defence. Let's stick to that.
Cheers!
Sean

Frustrating or a master stroke from MB ????? Rich ?

Also watched on a dodgy stream - on 85 mins I whatsapp'd my mates and said even
though it would be the same end result as last year it was a much better
performance and no reason for it to collapse our season - we have not been
'found out'
Then clutching at straws I said there would be lots of time added on but that
we would not score ! 10 seconds later - Harrison thrown up front gets the goal
Having said that how the f8ck we survived the last couple of minutes I do not
know - we would not have got a point in this game in the past (and indeed we
didn't)
So with Boro losing we are top on our own -even if only by one point- and have
two winnable home games, if we play to our potential, even with the injuries we
should beat Preston and Birmingham
Happy enough in the end
Dave

roberts off , harrison up front ???

what a pile of shite. I think the best thing I could say is that they're
certainly not bullying us out of it mainly cos they are shit. Long throws as
per Boro are their main tactic.
we've tried to play but the obsession with passing it around at the back has
caused our main problems. the players aren't good enough to play that game
under pressure in a game like this.
We've created little , the best chance falling to Roberts just before half-time
when he ran for a ball, he was second best to win it but it fell for him and he
placed it towards the goal but it hit hte keeper and didn't have the pace. Not
surprisingly Roberts has looked a tad lightweight but he's had no service.
Harrison has hardly touched the ball in their half.
Allioski has made some good runs but guess what ? everytime off-side. Wish he
would grow some brain cells.
Difficult to call this one, but I suspect one of their long throws wll
eventually fall on Morrisons head. Just hope we can score at the other end. We
have defended well at times with Jansson and Cooper.
