Not much to disagree with there- we were well on top till our Achilles heel
cost us a goal, we need to sort this out, a straight forward corner into the
box and they score. After that we were really at sea and I was pleased to hear
the half time whistle.  Second half we were mainly in control and were the
likely winners. So a win in London,  Bamford sticking it to southgate and
Meslier showing again what a tremendous prospect he is,  he could really become
top top quality ( mind I thought that about Robinson at the same age,  though
Meslier does seem more composed and resilient
Once again the game was marred by VAR , I was ecstatic when Ayling scored then
after a long long wait , various lines were drawn and it was chalked off,
Robert's nipple, like Costas knee and Bamfords finger before being enough to
cancel a goal . " clear and obvious " you have to be f-ing joking. The 'goal'
by Raph if it had been given is tailor made for VAR , one look and offside
given, job done. If you have to draw lines ( which are not even accurate) and
resort to slo mo, it is not by definition clear and obvious.  It needs sorting
, it really is spoiling the match experience.  If a VAR decision is the talking
point then something is wrong , it is supposed to eliminate controversy not
start it . I am still fuming ,
DavePS RIP hotshot/ lash Peter Lorimer,  his 2 records will not be beaten in my
lifetime,  youngest ever and most goals.  I met him briefly in Prague,  for
slavia Prague game, and he was a real gent ( yes things went bad for him under
Bates etc) another real legend that deserves a stand. When we go back there are
so many to mourn / celebrate, him, Jack, Norman and Trevor.

We came out of the blocks at 100 mph which we tend to do and Fulham like a
number of clubs just couldn't live with us. We had our usual goals chalked off
by VAR before Bamford scored what I'd consider to be a typical Bamford goal and
one that he's beginning to make look easy. As for the VAR 'goals' I've stopped
celebrating and jumping around the living room like an idiot because it's just
nto worth it. I can't imagine what that might do to the atmosphere in the
ground. Football is being slowly strangled by VAR.
One up and continuing to look dangerous it suddenly went all wrong and not for
the first time this season. A set piece as usual, Ayling loses his man and it's
1-1. The game is then turned on its head and where struggling to hold on to
half-time and have our amazing young keeper to thank whose saves just get
better every game. He's turning into a top keeper. There doesn't appear to be
any improvement in the set piece defensive organisation. It's worrying.
2nd half to our credit we began to take control again and looked dangerous on
the counter attack. With improved last balls and finishing we could have buried
them but we didn't and as usual we continued to look very shaky from set
pieces. Rapha's goal sealed the win and overall I think we deserved it but
we've got a massive job to do on set pieces and it needs to be addressed this
season. We are back to the pre Garry Monk days when we looked like and
frequently did concede from every corner.
Scores:
Miesler - 9. MOTM. Kept us in it at 1-1
Ayling - 6. Looked like he was struggling but battled on. Shame his header was
chalked off.
Allioski - 5. I though first half he was terrible. He played a couple of
ridiculous balls backwards and across his own box which put us in trouble. 2nd
half he was better and he did make some good tackles but he's always going to
be lacking as a left back.
Llorente - 7. Generally defended well and brought the ball forward and played
some good passes. Much improved.
The Ripper - 6. Struggled towards the end of the 1st half but generally
defended ok.
Dallas - 7. Lively midfield performance. I'm still not sure about him in
central midfield but with Klich out of form he's doing a great job at stepping
in.
Phillips - 7. Lost possession a couple of times in the first half but grew into
the game and I thought he did really well to break up attacks and get ours
going. His best performance for a while.
Harrison - 7. Much better from Jack. Did well for the goal and had another
couple of good moments in the 2nd half. His work rate off the ball was
excellent. Hopefully he's going to finish the season strongly.
Raphinha - 7. Took the goal well and looked like our most dangerous player
throughout. Maybe should have scored another.
Bamford - 8. Obviously wasn't 100% fit but scored his goal and made the other
and you can't grumble at that.
Roberts - 7. Alan Smith picked him out as having a great game however I don't
think he was as effective as the Chelsea game. He wasn't invovled that much in
the 1st half apart from one great cross for the disallowed Ayling goal. Having
said that he did have some great moments and overall I think he's showing his
abilities and why Bielsa is picking him. Love him to get a goal soon.
Subs:
Klich - Ran around a bit.
RIP Peter Lorimer
