Not a great end to what had been a decent window . Not sure who is to blame
for the lack of forward signings - bad negotiation skills / lack of finances /
“bigger “ teams jumping in / players not wanting a relegation fight / DFs poor
record at this level etcWhatever we are to quote DF , pre window shutting , 2
strikers light. We look to have enough at the back to get clean sheets v lesser
teams ( certainly at home ) but where are our goals coming from ?To date 3
games with barely a real chance ( Struik v Arsenal from the corner ) or shot on
target and no open play goals - that’s a massive worryWe are now - subject to
any loans being allowed ( not looked at rules) relying on 2 number 9s both with
massive injury histories and neither anything like prolific in front of goal -
Nmencha is less than a goal every 4 games .Or a player who does know where the
goal is , at lower level at any rate, but whose general lack of physicality and
overall ability means he may not get much game time These are to be “fed” by 2
wingers who have both struggled/ been ineffective in the prem in the past (
James and Harrison) supported by 2 almost unknowns at this level (Willie and
Okafer) the latter also with a poor injury record , plus another flop in
Aaronson Does not bode well - especially when you listen to the square ball
podcast theory / idea that goals scored and points earned are almost identical
for many teams Also Farke having admitted we will really struggle without new
players up top now has to convince the team ( and fans) that was just
propaganda to get more players and what we have is fine Personally I think the
49ers have blown it and have made any chance of staying up miles more remote
than it needed to beDaveStill sunbathing in Greek islands
