Terry - you are right about Bates holding the wages purse but its all part of the budget and I think given the number of players who have decided to join Leeds over others we must be paying good money. They are all basically mercenaries and they havent chosen us because of our name/facilities.

If we beat PNE over 2 legs then Blackwell's tactics will be proven right. If we dont he will unfortunately forever be criticised for handiing them a psychological advantage. Perhaps more importantly I know plenty of stay away fans who were planning to go to the play-off game on Friday and changed their mind after Sunday's performance. We need a full house on Friday and yet again the club manage to piss off fans when they dont have to.

Phill

Terry - its not clear from your brief note but if we are talking about transfer fees alone I think thats misleading. I'm pretty sure that Leeds are good payers and some of the players who have chosen us may have held their existing clubs to ransom so they could join us. We have a big squad and I'll bet our wage bill is amongst the biggest in this league.

I was talking just transfer fees as that was what the article was talking about. I also thought that was what other people meant when they talked about Blackwell's spending. There has been talk from the club about our "wage structure" so it sounds as if we are trying to live within our means now (your best friend Gary and Mr. Bakke not included of course). I don't think it's necessarily fair to include the wage bill in Blackwell's spending as I'm sure Mr. Bates will be handling that side of things and I'm sure any player trying it on would be given a quick "Fuck off" from him.

We saw on Sunday how good the squad is didnt we. Very disappointed with KB's team selection for the Preston game.

It did indeed show us how poor our "second string" are, but I wasn't too disappointed with the selections. I'd rather he did it that way and have the team he wanted available and rested for Friday. There is, of course, the argument about handing them a psychological advantage but I'm not sure how valid that is.
