To a degree Rich, but it's a decision taken very carefully and as a last
resort. It is not a very popular political decision to ever remove a
citizen of that country forcibly from their homes. It's a dodgy decision
these days to remove a foreign citizen from their lands.

There will be lots of times a government might not be particularly bothered
about 'giving away' a country, but the gains from doing so must be vast in
order for them to do so.

The main reason I think we went to war over the Falkland islands was
probably Gibraltar. Spain have been wanting that back for ages, and if we
allowed the Falklands to be taken so easily it would have encouraged other
such occupations.
