United seal second signing
By Phil Rostron
LEEDS UNITED today completed the signing of Millwall captain Dave Livermore. The 26-year-old midfielder put pen to
paper on a two-year deal after a fee believed to be £400,000 had been agreed
between the clubs. Livermore is the second summer recruit to Elland Road, following Brighton winger Seb Carole into the club. Livermore passed United's stringent medical examinations with flying colours and can now partake in the pre-season build up games. A no-nonsense, tough-tackling left-sided player, the former Arsenal trainee will bring added bite to a Leeds midfield in which Shaun Derry has been the general. Livermore can also play at left-back, which will add to boss Kevin Blackwell's options. Millwall fans are reeling at the loss of their talisman and Blackwell said today: "Dave brings a lot to the party. "He was instrumental in leading Millwall to their cup final against Manchester United two years ago and whenever we've been up against him he's been their best player. "He can certainly bring a new dimension to our play." Blackwell has several irons in the transfer market fire with the big kick-off at home to Norwich just 15 days away and it will be surprising if no more faces are added to the squad. But with fierce competition for available players who can cut the mustard in the Coca-Cola Championship, the manager is anxious to keep his plans under wraps. |
