Well our FA Cup dream lasted less than 15mins this season since by that time
it was 0-2 and game over.
Both goals at this point were down to piss poor defending, firstly not
clearing a corner despite two chances to do so as ball took a couple of
deflections in the box, then Heath being outmuscled (fair enough) and out paced
(FFS !) by Hartson when their keeper launched a huge route one kick.

When I saw the team I thought it looked very light in midfield and so it
proved, and Marques looked lost at right back with no positional sense.

At that point it looked like we would be hammered but we recovered slightly
and in fact second half we were the better team with the introduction of Derry
alongside Nicholls (our MoM) giving us some bite. Marques looked much better at
CH and Sa looked very promising at rightback.
We forced Hoult into a couple of good saves, the one from Flo as he slid in
was top class and he kept WBA in the Cup. We were then hit by a sucker punch to
extinguish any chance we may have had, but in fairness we never gave up and
Elliott - who had a torrid afternoon- won the ball and drove forward into their
box beating a couple of players, his shot was blocked by Hoult and bounced back
to Flo and Healy who between them got the defender to ricochet the ball into
the net.
Flo looked a bit off the pace at times and it was a pity he could not get on
the scoresheet when he had a couiple of chances including a one on one, but he
should improve.

So out of the Cup but not all doom and gloom with Sa looking good and
Nicholls showing us what we have been missing - we need to keep him playing to
save us from relegation.

On a slightly different note on my train back there was a mixture of fans and
I overheard 2 interesting bits.
First a Stockport County fan (on way back from Watford)) was berating a
Burnley fan saying how they were still laughting at getting Burnley to pay £1m
for Ian Moore !!! The Burnley reaction (obviuosly) was to say how they had last
laugh palming him off on us !!
Second two Oldham fans (on way back from Wolves) were saying how the most
important thing for them was not the Cup defeat but whether they could sign
Sean Gregan, the "best player seen at Boundary Park for ages" !!!

  Dave
