That is that last thing that they want.
The crux of the matter is that HMRC cannot accept a situation where football 
players are guaranteed to receive 100% of their money whilst at the same 
time the football club can fail to pay over money which has been collected 
from other taxpayers as VAT or deucted from wages as Income Tax and National 
Insurance. This is NOT like you or I failing to pay tax on income or 
profits. The employees HAVE paid their taxes in full but the club has kept 
that money and not handed it over to HMRC. The matter is in the hands of the 
football authorities to change a situation where players wages and bonus' 
are protected at the expense of money held back from HMRC.
