The PFA's stance on football creditors being paid first is that players they have a precarious career in football. Unlike anyone in a real job. Which is clearly bollox > However, correct me if I am wrong but didn't the HMRC issue (or attempt to) > a winding up order on the club? HMCE bent over backwards to help the club pay its way - instead the club used the revenues it had collected as a piggy bank. Moral issues aside, I've no wonder they get shirty. It would be just the same for your local pork butcher which was failing to pay taxes, just why should Leeds/Bates/Ridsdale/Krasner get special treatment? > If they want to sort the problem with football out I'd be very grateful if > they did that in the usual way (changing of laws being voted on in the house > of commons and lords) rather than scare football into it by closing down > Leeds United. There has NEVER been any attempt to close Leeds United down, what there has been is gross mismanagement for several years. Government is not about closing down businesses which if well run would provide regular substantial streams of income for the country through taxation. If it was we would all be living a neat third world existence here in the UK. The Football league offered to put its own house in order after the Cambridge fiasco. They have not. Caborn is now saying do it or I will legislate. Legislation or no it won't help a club that is so clearly badly run suddenly become a paragon of commercial virtue overnight. Just because it's Leeds United doesn't give the owners of the club any god given right to bugger about in the way that people have done since Fotherby first took his pile back off home when the PLC was floated. And not one of the people involved at ER since has any right to continue taking cash off supporters some of which is destined for the exchequer and then piss it up against the wall either on poxy players or bloody goldfish. Mark, I think you and anyone else who thinks they are all out to get us should go and support Millwall :-) Betty _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
