Sean, Fellow IOTL (Ironers), other esteemed listers, Once again the medium of laughter has highlighted a plight that many of us face on a weekly basis and so it is with great emotion that I accept this award and I accept it not only for myself but on the behalf of other closet ironers, who should, like me, set themselves free from the everyday prejudices of those not so well informed.
We should take this opportunity to highlight the issues that face us in pursuit of this, some would say, hazardous task. Fingers become trapped in the dangerous framework of the ironing board itself (second in the list to deckchairs in the causes of blood blisters) not to mention burnt fingers, others such as scalding from the nasty steam jets or the ironing of underpants whilst wearing can bring serious injury. Topless ironing is another issue that needs highlighting, it is not just very short women with nipples like scammell wheel nuts that risk injury it is us blokes with our slightly (in my case) rounded bellies that risk the searing touch of the sole plate. Once again I would like to thank you all, I am touched (and whoever it was please be gentle next time). Bugger it, I have broken a nail and my fingers have become all chapped from typing, pass the nivea.
