Seconded - I lived there 88/9 - knuckles not tattooed enough for entry to the local nite-club - made Chatham (with its squaddies) look high class - actually went to the first ever "Kentish" league derby - Gillingham vs Maidstone (Boxing Day) 10000+ there police didn't have a clue - crowd had less - 00's waiting to go through 1 turnstile while the next turnstile stood empty...!
