This football club is currently on a steep downward path and has been for
some time. If you bear this in mind instead of an assumption that we are
already on the bottom then we are still looking intently downhill. If
nothing significantly changes then it will probably stay the same. In
football it frequently takes a significant injection of funds to get off a
downward slope and to make an impact sufficient to stop the rot. My worry is
that some people will think that there are other ways to do it (which if you
are lucky or really really good there may be). We are neither lucky nor
really really good (though I hope this changes).

I know that the other potential buyers from KPMG had planned for expenditure
on the squad. The only group which made no indication of having such funds
was our new owners. In the absence of subsequent confirmation of funding
then it causes me concern personally. Time will tell and I'm sure that we
all hope that the money will be available. I really don't know the answer
and perhaps none of us do, but that itself is cause for concern. I hope that
this is a case of MY having unwarranted fears.

The football debts are still to be met in full. I really would expect that
we should be financially viable in League one but do we have capital to
spend on players and at the same time fund all current expenditure up front
? I don't know but it is a fair question to ask.
