'almost certainly'

Putting this into the general public domain most definitely DID add the
political pressure (over and above any economic pressure) to challenge the
CVA.

Whether this ultimately made a difference to the HMRC challenging or not we
will never know, but it certainly did not help avoid the challenge did it?

The HMRC might well have had good economic reasons to challenge, what was
the excuse for the MPs to get involved?

If to 'speak for their constituents', why the fuck have they not come out
and acted on their constituents behalf to screw down the FL?

Basically, whether their interference made any difference to the challenge
or not, by getting involved they were doing little more than shit stirring
and flag waving for their own ends.

I do not like my club being used to shit stir, and whilst you (or others)
will certainly argue that Bates himself does this, Bates isn't
democratically elected to speak on my behalf, MPs are.
