Well on the plus side it was a game of football rather than money that took our
attention last night - but what a game - absolute shite !! We had one shot on
target in the full 90mins and at times were the second best team on the pitch.
True the conditions were dreadful with a water logged pitch where the ball
got stuck on more than a few occasions but we did not show anything to suggest
we are going to bounce straight back.
In the first half no-one impressed at all with both Weston and Constantine on
show.
Second half Thompson (and to a lesser extent Lewis) showed glimpses of skill
that prove he was a quality player - he will be very important to us if we sign
him and maybe a bigger if - if he can stay fit.
Because of Thommo and Lewis we did look a bit better 2nd half but what
chances we did create we wasted by Kandol \ Beckford who were both rubbish - if
they are the answer it is a pretty stupid question.
Prutton had Derrys old hair cut (when he first came out lots of fans thought
it was Derry) but unfortunately he played like the Shorn Derry and not Sean
Derry (think about it !)
Heath looked solid at back and the right back (Fry I think) looked OK but
there was very little to get excited about.
Crowd was announced as 4019 with over 2250 being classed as visitors (this
would not include those Leeds in the home side - not even those dressed in pink
with the banner "Danny Gays Salmon Pink Army" in praise of our (first half )
new keeper.
The fans were pretty quiet with surprisingly few anti Bates chants
There was no apperance from Flo
It will be another long season on this showing !!!
