Jewell would be a good manager if this were ever happened. I think he only
left Wigan because it finally dawned on him that he couldn't really
attract the type of player he wanted because ... well because it's Wigan!
Settled in Ilkley and a pretty good track record. Still, it's just
conjecture for now.
However, controversial though it may be (Oh no, I'm stepping into the
cauldron here!) because of all the shenanigans over the summer (I use the
term summer in it's loosest possible sense as it has officially depressed
me this year!) our eyes have naturally been averted from the whole footy
side. Right now it appears to me that we're in a similar situation to the
one Blackwell inherited (And harped on about FAR too long) with a paper
thin squad, Johnny Nobody playing in pre-season friendlies for us and
excuses being metered out by the truckload about how all this has ruined
DW's plans and how we've lost at least 4 players we'd earmarked. So what's
controversial about that? Nothing. Keeping Dennis Wise as our manager
right now and giving him the obligatory 'till christmas' to sort us out is
the controversial bit (To some). Absolutely pointless IMHO in looking at
changing anything for now. What's going on with the 'Golden Share' stuff?
It seems to have gone very quiet. Is this because the FL are now poring
over the paperwork KPMG have finally provided or are they just dragging
their heels in true English Football Authority Styley? As far as I can see
we're now offloading players (Where is that money being banked?) but
whingeing (Seemingly wrongly) that we can't buy anyone, but we are allowed
3 to get the squad up to 20 which suggests Flo, Thompson and Sa are being
're-signed' to top us up for now. This all plays into the hands of Bates
and Wise as they can get their excuses in now and the majority of us mugs
will buy into it, but I think Wise has to produce and get us into a
competative position by November ish or any time he has bought with all
this nonesense will be spent and we can rightfully start applying the
disgruntled fan pressure again!
