Not quite, AFAIK.  Redbus were prepared to do it but not to risk as much as 
their previous bid. That is my understanding of why there was a joint bid 
Redbus/Morris. It was after all not a "super bid" as was reported in some 
places but was LOWER than Redbus had bid previously alone. The joint bid was 
to share the risk of buying a club without a golden share and no CVA. (and 
potentially no season ticket money, no stock, and no debtors).
It appears that the Pearson bid did not even get to the table as you say, 
and for the same reasons. What is not clear is WHY the FL did not use the 
unusual circumstances get out, but of course if they had used it then Bates 
would probably have lost.
