I would think that I am a typical "overseas" supporter. I have no feelings towards Leeds (city) or Yorkshire, except for those that have developed over the years as a consequence of supporting Leeds United. I have however STRONG feelings towards Leeds United and everything achieved (and not achieved) over the years.
Having said this, there is no way I would ever consider supporting a "new" Leeds United, starting from scratch. If a company in China establishes a football team in the Chineese football league and names it Leeds United, would I support it???? Why should I? What if the chineese company starts a team in England, based in Leeds city, and gives it the name Leeds United, should I support them??? Why should I? If a few listers on the LU supporters lists establishes a new team with a familiar name, should I support that team???? Whay should I? For me the idea of a "new" Leeds United is absurd. Perhaps a number of Leeds based fans would support this new side, but a new team would never be able to take over the brand, the global fan support, the goodwill, the feelings of most Leeds United supporters, the feelings of other supporters, etc. I am all in for participating in fantasizing about owning and running a new team (probably every supporters wet dream), but never ever imagine it can be built on the foundations of the current Leeds United.
