I read the following on WACCOE - two lads that have been falling out (on line) in lumps over Bates met for a pint... and came away with a better understanding after. It made me wonder about us on here. We all love Leeds more than the average, but you wouldn't guess we had that bond from the tone of some of the postings on here. Assuming that LUFC get to play football this season (whether that's thanks to, or despite Bates), is it time for us to meet for a couple of pre-match pints to clear some of this bad blood?
http://www.waccoe.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=100033 "Some of you will have followed my postings on the usual 'Bates out' threads and one person I have clashed with, is of course Lionheart. Last night we met for a drink..... Firstly, I am known enough around the Leeds boards and have met enough people to assure you that am not connected in any way with Leeds Utd - just a father of two living in East Leeds that loves our club....so the double conspiracy theorists can disappear before you even start please. I suspected and openly questioned Lionheart and his motvies as I know others did...and i can assure you all that he is NOT Morris, Krasner or anyone associated with rival bidders- he is just a 20 year ST holder that has been moved by recent events at the club and it has motivated him into 'action'. Anything else about his identity will remain confidential as i assured him it would, as will several aspects of our conversation (nothing 'sensational', just some interesting points that do not affect the issues around bates/Admin/Golden Share'). We met as opponents in our points of view..and parted the same i fear. Although I will concede that I now understnad a bit more about the factors that have led to some fans being so angry at the process. Hearing Lionheart describe the Creditors meeting is very different to reading about it on a message board later! I've always felt that the whole Bates/Admin thing was 'cooked up' but maybe I did not appreciate how glaringley obvious this was to all concered at the time - and how much was simply shrugged off by KPMG or Walker Morris at the time - and I feel this is the cause of a lot of the 'kerfuffle' we are now going through. Of course the counter argument is that whilst people were asking what appears to be interesting and relevant questions at the time, they might actually not be relevant at all (in the sense of KPMG/Admin/Process) hence the lack of clarity or answers. I don't know, I wasn't there and i don't understand the depths of insolvency law to understand what KPMG should and shouldn't have done. Anyway, this whole issue has motivated and angered a lot of people, including Lionheart. So onto the 'in's and outs' of the case itself -the connected Creditors, the Debenture, the Insovency law - we both stood firm in our points of view - Mine clearly being 'it won't matter unless it is proved' - Lionheart (as I understand it) is that 'it may well be proved yet' - I don't think we will move on this at all - if it is not proved, I was right, if it is proved, he was right - time will tell. One thing struck me during our conversation and I realised how two Leeds utd fans have parted ways on our views to the exent that we can now almost not comprehend the others point of view - it was a bit of a dawning realisation and one that I am sure will help me understand the view points of fellow fans on this boards and others... Lionheart is angered/furious/amazed* (*delete as approprite) that Leeds Utd, is beloved club, are being dragged through the mud in all this. our name, our reputation, our future is again, all ov erthe papers for the wrong reason. 'people' without a vested interest in Leeds Utd are in control, playing games, bending rules to acheive their own goals- this (I beleive) is Lionhearts starting point. My own view is very different - I feel we lost 'Leeds Utd' years ago - we are not a club with the board and the city council striving to work together to improve the community, our club does not make deicsions for the best interest of it's fans, and neither do our players....Football sold itself out to money years ago (all 'big' clubs - not just ours). Therefore I am not in the least but suprised when I see 'Money' decisions taking precident over 'Club' Decisions....and in my eyes, everyone is guilty - everything is just about money....The players play for money, not the club, the board are there for money, not the club, even the Football League are making money nowadays - it is just one great biug commercial wheel. With that viewpoint, I don't get up in arms about threats to liquidate the club (that is not say I am not bothered, just that it is a commercial statement - said to commercial people to make commercial decisions - if I thought it would actually happen, of course I'd be angry - but I just see it that this is how the money world works.) I see the law and rules all about money - We (the fans) think passionately about our club, it's heritage, it's place in our lives - the people connected to this farce don't - lawyers, administrators, rival bidders, Bates and co...so when it comes to the legalities, I am not disppointed or surprised. The legal world is full of dodgy deals, out of court settlements etc. so why should we be any different. I don;t have low morals...I just always had low expectations. It was certainely a pleasure meeting Lionheart and I thank him for his time - I'm sure he will correct anything from the above if it is misleading." - Sean _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
