Subject: Re: [LU] Time to get back to the footy
Sean,
The point that I and others have been making is that while that may be true
in the long-term, it is extremely counter-productive RIGHT NOW when we should
be focusing on solving more immediate problems - like getting the GS back
(achieved) and now getting the 15-pt deduction removed or at least reduced to a
manageable level.
In the long-term Bates will surely cash in his shares and go - that's what he
does. But the sooner the club's health has been restored, the sooner that's
likely to happen. So best to get behind the club - including Bates and Wise -
as there is no other option, for at least 12 months (due to the
anti-embarrasment clause). Fan pressure will not force Ken Bates out. He'll go
when he can make a significant return and that is inextricably linked to
success on the pitch.
I don't think any of us actually LIKES Bates - but some of us accept the fact
that he's the chairman, so let's make the best of it. And give me Bates any day
over Ridsdale, Prof, Krasner or Morris.
Mark
>>The point is Mike, that some people (myself included) think that Bates
staying at Leeds is even more unproductive. We all want the best for
Leeds, but it could be that Leeds will do better without Leeds than with
him.<<
