Without repeating anything you typed I can say that most of your issues are facts and nothing really to disagree with. You do however not tell the whole story. Yes, allowing repayment in installment is very nice of the HMRC. But THEY still issued the winding offer. The total debt to the HMRC was simply to big for a div 3 club to manage. Yes, Bates should have paid the money to the HMRC instead of using it as a piggy bank. Most of the HMRC debt was however from pre-Bates times. This however supports the oppinion that Leeds were simply not able to generate income to support their debts. Yes, the HMRC were in their right to do whatever they needed to do to get their money from Leeds, but this only strengthens my case that in the long run the debt was not servicable with the clubs income. The HMRC should probably have called in the debt a lot sooner. Yes, Ken Bates is a dodgy character and his history as a buisnessman is the story of someone I at least would not want to do business with. Sadly - his history is not a unique one, and there is a constant rise in the numbers of people seeking shelter from transparancy and bending rules for their own personal gain. BUT - Bates is what we got and I have yet to see our white knight in shining armour come to our rescue. Yes, I would love to be able to look further into things, but as for now - the people that do not "HATE" Bates are relying more on what has been presented to us as facts, while the anti Bates group is basing ther opinions on make-belive stories, wishful thinking, rumours and spite. And finally, YES, of course I understand and would prefer Bates to act in a straightforward, transparent manner. But we just have to accept that we have no right to know anything about how a person runs his/her company. Don't forget that WE do not OWN Leeds. Bates and co are the owners of the club that we support. Understandably we have such strong feelings towards the club that we want everything to be transaparent and it is hard to accept that one man can take deccissions that affects the very club hundred of thousands of people all over the world LOVE. But sadly - that is the fact of the modern game. Love it or loathe it, but it is not Bates fault.
