A vista/XP computer will make you life easier as regards getting s/w and
assistance, probably cheaper bang per bucks. However Macs will make you
seem V trendy and many people love them.

In my line of business no question windows PC is king, but cos it is
ubiquitous rather than best (like VHS/Betamax).

I am not sure this is true. However Trojans and Viruses are written by
lowlifes who want to cause as much misery and unhappiness as poss, so they
tend to aim for the areas with the largest installed user base.

S'true there are thousands of weaknesses with Windows (jury still out on
Vista, prob will be until SP1) but much of that is because it tries to do
more and MS made a decision to leave most things open in their OS, for ease
of integration. Computers are inherently bug ridden because programmers are
such a bunch of sandal wearing, Halo playing numbnuts ;-)

Also Apple is proprietary, they, afaik, let no one else make MACs. PCs are
totally open so you have a greater choice and more price competitiveness and
pretty much everything is written with PC in mind, MAC OS and LINUX often
come second with all the attendant issues.
