Yes Rich, I can remember all those games and a few more - obvioulsy I went
under my own steam not on the special but can remember Mervs debut - "is that
him that used to be good" was the gist of the conversation on the way to ground
(we had only signed him that morning if I remember right)
Cantonas debut was another wierd one - we could not understand all the
attention from the press - we were not even pronouncing his name right calling
him Can-tone-a but can remember him strutting about when he came on. Thought at
the time that that defeat was going to end our Championship asperations.
Also remember the plastic pitch and a League Cup night game when we were 2 -
0 up and then got a penalty which Edwards took but hit the post and scored form
the re-bound, we all went wild but knew something was not quite right and of
course it was disallowed sinc eno-one else had touched it and we went on to
lose 3 -2 .
Remember oooh Roger Palmer and the fact he always used to score against us.
On one trip I went in a boozer very early on and there were a few Leeds
playing pool in the back room - only snag was it was a ManU supporters branch
and they all turned up later to get coach to OT !!! The atmosphere was
'charged' shall we say !!

For the play off I had to go down a few days before and beat their publicised
foolproof system, aimed at stopping any Leeds getting tickets in their ends.
Had to show a Manchester gas bill to get my 4 tickets.
We were in the side , the top bit, over the other stand with a bit of a roof.
We kept quiet till we scored then without meaning to, jumped up, when we looked
round 90% of that stand was celebrating - we were all Leeds and didn't realise
it.
At the end we got on the roof and were chanting at the players - Brendan
Ormsby looked right at me and gave a big Leeds salute (so he is not in MY worst
Leeds X! !)

I can remember one Boxing Day game at Boundary Park where a couple of mates
of mine came with me - (2 City, 1 scum and 1 Bury) and they could not believe
the mayhem outside !

I also recall the portacabin toilets one year - a slight step up form the
usual quagmire in our end.

As you say it is a ground with lots of stories for Leeds fans but not many
victories !!

  Dave

‘Special’ train from Oldham not being allowed through
to Oldham by the police so had to get off at a small
village train station – around 500 lads marching
through the back streets of Oldham terrorising the
locals (Dave R - do you remember that day ?).
Mervyn Day’s debut.
Wearing my new white Puma G Vilas trainers that were
black bright after the trip – that big open away end
was full of sh*t and mud and it took an age to get
out.
Boxing Day – massive crowd and a great Leeds
performance but still no win (2-2).
Someone pulling the emergency chord on the train and
being threatened by the police that we would have to
walk home.
Play off chaos – Keith Edwards’s goal, in the Oldham
end, and lots of fighting everywhere.
Getting stuffed on the artificial pitch in the
promotion season.
Cantona’s debut – never seen so many cameras – he came
on for the last 10 minutes and nearly scored. Instant
hero.

Never seen us win there I don't think.
