We have won this season when we really shouldn't have (Hartlepool & Forest
spring to mind) but this was definately one we should have won but lost.
We were so much on top in the first half that if it had been a boxing match
the ref would have stopped it to save Carlisle further punishment. Only
desperate defence, excellent goalkeeping and lack of that touch of good
fortune that we've had all season stopped us being out of sight and on to
win number 12.
As so often happens failure to take full advantage of our superiority cost
us as Carlisle stepped up their game in the second half and when we were a
fraction of a second late in closing down the man with the ball he lashed a
super shot in from outside the area, giving Casper no chance.
This awoke the natives 13000 of whom had been totally silent, outsung by our
3000, and for a short while it was back to the wall stuff and sloppy
defending led to them going in front.
After that we came back into the game and had a few chances to equalise but
were unable to take them and conceded a poor third goal to give the score
line an unflattering and undeserved look.
Never mind.
We'll be back to winning ways on Tuesday.
