After the game, Wise's excuse for a below-par performance was the amount of
travelling in the last week. The commentators said that the squad had arrived
back from Bournemouth at 5am on Wednesday, then travelled down to Hereford on
Thursday.
Which made me wonder why they hadn't gone straight from Bournemouth to
Hereford, rather than returning to Leeds. Apparently they found some excellent
training facilities at a non-league club near Hereford, so they could have had
an extra days training camp there, rather than doing all the travelling.
Or was the problem that the club couldn't afford two night's extra hotel
bills for the whole squad?
