Going back to this (below) with apologies for this as I'm on the digest - We lost to Swindon in the 1st round of the FA Cup in 1921/22, drew with & beat Portsmouth in 1922/23, and played each year up to 1925/6 when we entered the cup in the 3rd round with a 1-5 home defeat to Middlesbrough. We managed to get to the 4th round for the first time in 1927/28, the 5th in 1930/31, the 6th in 1949/50, semi and final in 1964/65. Apart from the Revie years, we've no history of being any good in cups! I assume that the 3rd round entry at 3rd round stage started in 1925/26 - but haven't checked this. Graham
