'cuse me Mr StigOfTheAddingWordsIntoSentencesDump, I never actually said that the Stone Roses were the bees knees, however, if ever there was a band that you could lie back on the grass with a bit of grass the Stone Roses beat Led Zep every time. The Roses, for me, are better because I grew up during that era and have memories of seeing the band, buying records, etc whereas I don't have anything to tie me to Led Zep and that rationale is probably what triggers most peoples affection for the music they listen to. The problem with LZ fans is the purist attitude they have and they think that because the band didn't release any singles it somehow makes them better than anyone else when actually they were no better than anyone else, whereas the reality could have been that they couldn't squeeze the message into 3 minutes and therefore weren't commercially viable.
