So far, so good the list is still here. A damage limitation exercise needs
to be carried out and this will probably include the removal of some list
archive material.

The problem is already serious and could get worse when most of the list
goes back to work on Monday morning and starts ploughing through their
mailboxes, with the very real problem that reactions to the weekends issues
will be compounded.

The best way of mitigating this risk is to put the list into Emergency
Moderation mode so that the list can continue to run (ISP permitting) but we
can filter out any risky messages.

While the list is in Emergency Moderation, anyone posting will receive an
advisory message. Your orginal posting will be queued for moderation and
should be released to the list after review. We won't be editing though,
just rejecting risky messages.

This is censorship. But censorship essential to preserve the existence, let
alone the integrity, of the list.

Of course, any "normal" (sic) messages will pass through moderation but may
be delayed. Better late than never though.
