Got to be a shop window thing for them to flog a few decent players to europe

San lorenzo are one of argentina's traditional big 5 or 6 but haven't been upto
much until last season when they came from nowhere to win the league. They are
managed by the ex oxford utd manager ramon dias.

I think despite out troubles our stock is still high as a footballing brand
abroad. Evryone I spoke to in argentina knew leeds united and conversely I
think, and I could be wrong, they are still regarded as second rate over there
so a tie up with the mancs or arsenal is unlikely as they are too big to buy
out eg antwerp or beveren and not big enough to partner with.

The other thing is that our 3rd div wages i'm guessing are still quite
attractive to argentinian players and most of the clubs over there are
completely skint hence the need to off load any talent abroad to survive.

Indeed river plate who are nicknamed the millionaires sold off the rights to a
load of youngsters to get the cash to survive a couple of years ago so those
players are now owned tevez style!

It could be a clever ploy by them to sell on england hardened players to the
prem and for us to get a boost of fancy dan technically gifted players to
improve ours...

All guesses but that's how it makes sense to me.

Is a bit weird. Ok the theory is sound, lots of people do it - but that's
usually so MU & Arsenal etc. can loan players out until they sort work permits
out.

In our case we're taking players from a (currently) higher up club than us -
so, unless they're EU, they won't get a work permit, unless they're current
internationals. And if they're current internationals - what will they be
doing in Div 3?????

I don't think non EU U-21s count. Or am I wrong?
