Well (hopefully) this is as low as it gets. Over 4,000 Leeds fans were there
to get behind the team but a lot of the chants were aimed at Macca - "time to
go" "stand up and manage the team" "what the f**k is going on" "Oh Gary Mac
you're gonna get the sack" (to the tune of Jimmy Mac) And while only about a
third of fans did join in there was no counter support for the manager - no
chants of "only one Gary McAllister" etc. In additon a lot of individual abuse
was hurled at McAllister, Staunton, Lucas and Kikenny, a couple of lads near me
carried out a constant stream of references to Maccas lack of hair and his
birthplace (f**k off you bald headed Jock) and it is hard to see how he will
survive now. Indeed I spoke to ex lister Pete Southern and a couple of his
mates in a pub after and they were all of the opinion that McAllister should
'do the decent thing and resign' one of them asked me "you will be at Stockport
but will Macca?" . Personally I think I
would give him the beneift and give him more time but it is difficult to
defend a manager after performances like yesterday.
He signs a much needed centre half and having said that although the lad can
play at right back he has been signed purely as a centre half he then goes and
picks him at right back instead of captain Frazer - strange to say the least.
Einstein said it was the definition of insanity to do the same things and
expect a different result and yet that is exactly what we have been doing in
terms of defending (or not defending corners) - we started brightly and Snoddy
(?) had a great chance to put us in front but we wasted it. Then they get a
corner and hit it near post to their man who heads it in - personally I do
think it was a bit of a fluke in so much as the scorer ended up on the floor
and did not seem to realise he had scored. At the next corner (just got a
text Macca sacked !!! but I have started so I will finish, though not sure if
any real point) Lucas physically grabbed Sheehan and took him to the post and
placed him then with a lot of pointing a shouting - yet before the ball was
played in Sheehan had wandered off -something worng there!
Later another corner came in and we had two or three chances to clear as the
ball bounced around but unsurprisingly the ball was headed into the net. Game
over.
Second half we had one ten minute spell where Snoddy lashed home a cracker and
we all got behind the team and for a few miutes we had belief but then they got
the ball put in a cross which was headed home - 3-1 and lots of our fans did
the smae and headed home.
I stayed to the (bitter) end but we never looked like getting back in it
I was going to say that things need to change but the news about Macca there
obviously will - as I said at the start I maybe would have given him a bit
longer but it is hard to disagree with the decision after the performance and
result yesterday coupled with the reaction of the crowd.
