McAllister had to go.
A year ago he inherited a dispirited side lacking form and confidence. Well
things have gone full circle and the players we have now are either (a)
confused by Macca's tactics and selections, (b) they don't want to play for
him, or (c) more worryingly thet are simply not good enough. Whatever the
reason McAllister has had enough time to call this team his own, and things
are simply not good enough. The players are to blame but the buck stops with
the manager.
There are too many worrying aspects for him to have continued. Players like
Howson and Killkenny have gone alarmingly backwards. Defenders who last year
looked reasonably solid now look like amateurs (sorry Histon!), the attack
looks toothless without Beckford and the goalkeeping situation is nothing
short of a joke. A lack of leadership on the pitch is highlighted by having
the hapless Richardson as captain, and why we must persist with a holding
(i.e non-footballing) midfielder in the form of Douglas is bewildering.
I'm sure Gary is a great guy but this job was just a 'wee bit' too big for
him right now.
I hope Mr Bates brings in Simon Grayson - ex-Leeds, knows League One and
holding his own (so to speak) at Blackpool in the Championship. Poyet would
be a bad move, as we'd get more sense out of a beeping fax machine than him.
On On On.

Not saying it's a good thing, but you can see it
happening can't you?

I would be horrified if Bates reappointed Poyet. How can we
possible move forward with a manager who > > (a) Has
never managed a club before > (b) At the first job offer
(manager or assistant manager) from a club in the higher
leagues would be offski. > > Also, let's remember
the football we were playing under Wise and Poyet. That long
unbeaten run was more luck than owt else.
