Also, let's remember the football we were playing under Wise and Poyet.
That long unbeaten run was more luck than owt else.

Thats like saying our recent unWinning run is down to more bad luck than owt
else. >

There's a lot of truth in both those statements!
Last season we won a number of games we shouldn't have won on the balance of play and chances created, Hartlepool at home and Donny away are just two that spring to mind. This season we've lost matches we should never have lost on the balance of play and chances created but have been "unlucky". Things like Huddersfield's winner that was shanked off the guy's shin and trickled in with Casper going the right way to make a save if he'd hit it correctly.
You do create your own luck in football of course.
The thing under Wise and Poyet was that they'd created a self-belief in the team and they thought they'd win every game. When you play like that things tend to go for you. Under Macca during the last few weeks they've played like they thought they'd lose every game and sure enough things then go against you. Take the first goal on Saturday. A shite corner that the bloke dived forward to get his head to. 99 times out of 100 when a player at our level does that the ball flies into the crowd. Where did it go on Saturday? Into the net. Cue for our lot to start thinking "Oh fuck, here we go again" and sure enough we do. The defence has made a lot of mistakes this season and have been punished virtually every time. They made lots of mistakes last year but more often than not got away with it due to shite play by the opposition. They've not been that "lucky" this year. When you're playing well and getting results the ball hits the post and goes in. When you're down in the dumps and playing badly it hits the post and comes out.
