Rich is right Villa are probably the most fickle fans (other than Boro) in the country but 2 important points,
They are knocking on the door of the top 4, they have a good manager and lots of money Birmingham never have or never will be top 4 or anywhere near that so we will never know what they would achieve. They are a yoyo club whose current rival is West Brom who are considerably bigger than they are historically as are Wolves. Birmingham are about the 4th biggest club in the west midlands -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Richard Walker Sent: 04 August 2009 15:01 To: [email protected]; Alan Edgar Subject: Re: [LU] Delph It's no good harping on about what crowds they got in 1986 > - this is the 21st century and football is different now. > >Villa are knocking on the door of the top 4 and are miles bigger than the >yoyo club at St Andrews. Well that depends on your definition of a big club ? and whether or not Villa are only gettting decent crowds (well not that decent - under 40,000 most weeks) 'cos they've got a load of glory hunter fans from Sutton Coldfield that will ditch them as soon as the bad times arrive. If Birmingham were knocking on the door of the top 4 of the premiership they would match Villa for crowds and almost certainly have a bigger away support - they have now ! So you have to look at the hard times when working out whether a club is a big club in terms of its support or not. Perfectly relevant. Would Villa average over 23,000 if in the 3rd division as we are ? Of course not ! --- On Tue, 4/8/09, Alan Edgar <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Alan Edgar <[email protected]> > Subject: [LU] Delph > To: [email protected] > Date: Tuesday, 4 August, 2009, 12:35 PM > > > Look, I'm as hacked off as > you (Or anyone else) about this. > > > Delph was the > > > future, he was a player, along with Howson, we > could > > slowly build a team > > > around and move up.
