above all else Bates is a businessman, so the sum is probably fairly
straightforward

Keep Beckford
Lose 3M from say Bolton (less seasons wages)
Poss Get Promoted (worth say 5M) - Bates can get more for the club

Sell Beckford
Gain 3M (plus saving seasons wages)
replace (say 1M for player inc wages)
Poss not get promoted (poss lose 5M) - Bates may be stuck with us for
another year and have to find a new manager.

Given we seem to be profitable and will have got a wedge for Delph, I can't
see it making financial sense unless the offer for Becks is a lot higher and
Larry has a replacement lined up. However the main variable is Beckford?
What wil he do if we don't let him speak to a premier club - might he get
all huffy - in which case get rid immediately, only want players who are
100% committed to the cause even if it means missing out on auto promotion.
