Hi Dave,

No time for my match report however a few points:

Conditions were bad but that didn't excuse the number of misplaced passes and
our long ball tactic from Lubo in the first half. It was terrible to watch.

I thought Orient looked lively especially their left winger who ran the hapless
Bromby ragged. He aint no right back.

Doyle is a weak link and is too pedestrian. Howson suffers from playing on the
right although Grayson did try and move him more centrally to cope with Orient.
I'd go Kilkenny and Howson in central midfield.

Snodgrass had his worse game for Leeds (and he's had some bad ones). He was
attrocious.

Gradel was the man of the match - everything he did was direct and positive.
Reminds me of Vince Hilaire. He's pretty fearless and in this league that
stands out a mile.

Aiden White - excellent. So direct and so much talent. Give him a run. I reckon
he could be another Ryan Giggs.

Grella - wanted the ball so badly - he should not be forgotten and I'd be
tempted to play him on Sunday,

Vokes - worked hard and one or two good glimpses. I get the feeling it's just a
goal or two for him that will really get him going, but when will that happen ?

Beckford - his touch is terrible and when it's windy this gets emphasised.
there's no way that this lad could play in the premiership until he improves
his basic skills.

Credit to Grayson - he's always looking to change and affect the game.

well, that's nearly a match report.  Back to work now.

Cheers.

Subject: [LU] Orient

On 606 and other programmes they have started using the phrase "win ugly" - and
whilst it is one of those stupid phrases that does not really mean anything ,
if the phrase "win ugly"can ever be applied to a football match then  it was us
last night.
It was a dreadful and immediately forgettable game in front of a paltry crowd
of 19,000 (4k less than Norwich !!) who spent most of the match pretty well
comatose.
There were very few incidents of any note - Casper let one long shot bounce up
over his body (did it a few matches ago when it hit the bar) but this time
caught the rebound off himself. Kisnorbo made one great saving tackle. Both
sides had a few feeble long range efforts and neither keeper really had a shot
to save.
It was not the players fault :the weather was awful with huge gusts of wind
billowing around the pitch - one high and long ball moved about 4 different
directions in the air.
We did however press and have the lions share of possession and ultimately just
about deserved the points. The credit for the win goes to Max and SG.
At half time he brought on White and his pace and direct running started to
cause them a few problems. Then the two managers showed their skills - in
Orients case they took off the midget up front and brought on the huge Jamie
Scowcroft - Grayson on the other hand took off our target man - the once again
largely ineffective Vokes - and brought on our midget , Max Gradel and the game
changed. Gradel ran them ragged and we took control of the game as the clock
ran down, then a beautiful twist and turn got him past 3 defenders and he
rocketed it into the top corner - another beauty and another late winner.
So 4 clean sheets and 4 victories on the spin after the hiccup at Millwall. The
Leeds machine keeps marching on.
On the way home we had a big debate about Michael Doyle - I was sticking up for
him saying he does the hard unnoticed work that lets the others play. My lad
reckons he is just crap and can't tackle pass or shoot - who is right ?
