Talksport were moaning this morning. Depends if it means northern rock have the chance to grow and be profitable again.
Like it or not sports sponsorship is a good way to raise awareness of a company. If that means northern rock get more investors make more money its good for us. If northern rock didn't advertise anywhere no one would know they still existed and we would lose even more. Marketing spend is meant to be an investment. In my view its the wrong move and leaves them open to criticism and I doubt that the £10m investment will have a decent return on investment given that they have sponsored them for years Matt ------Original Message------ From: Robert Heath Sender: [email protected] To: John Sykes To: Leeds List Subject: [LU] Scandalous outrage Sent: 19 Jan 2010 19:44 It is an absolutely outrageous scandal that Northern Rock have signed a new deal to sponsor those sad stripy twats from Newcastle. All last year, as I religiously watched every one of their games to enjoy their pathetic stumble into relegation, I grumbled and moaned to anyone who would listen (ie my dogs) about the fact that N Rock were written on their shirts while my money was keeping N Rock afloat. But in more balanced moments, I had to admit (to my dogs) that they probably had an ongoing contract which they had to honour. But now they have signed up to a new contract, passing 10 million of OUR quid over to them so they can unsettle some more of our best players. A totally sc. o. And no one else seems to be even batting an eyelid, except for the good old Guardian of course.
