Over from the states for this one and I pretty much agree with this report. I
thought the overall performance was pretty weak, far too much aimless long ball
to Becchio which when he did win them Beckford was nowhere near him. If you are
going with that tactic both forwards have to be close together. Basic stuff.
Beckford looked the lazy sod people have been going on about. I thought best
players were Snodgrass and McSheffrey but best bit of the game was Dickov
getting into it after the game had not even been started after his
substitution. Worst players for me were Beckford (I expected so much more) and
Michalik who was truly awful. One hoof into the stands when under no pressure
and a simple pass back to Ankergren was on summed it up.

Oh well talking to Leeds fans before and after the game was worth the trip.
Train back to London full of very exuberant Brentford fans who were well
chuffed. Thought their support was excellent to be honest.

And many thanks to Rick for sorting so much out for me.

ps At least Colchester only drew....

Subject: Re: [LU] Brentford report

Going to the game after an awful week for me (spent 4 days at hospital gathered
around my mother in laws bed watching her die) I really wanted a good
performance and result to cheer me up - instead I got an OK performance and a
poor result. We really should be hammering teams like Brentford at home, and
worryingly the blip which became a slump is now almost a crisis !
There were some good points- McSheffrey had by far his best game for
us,Beckford ended his goal drought (and he was very relieved -as shown by his
reaction after the goal celebration,)and overall we created enough chances to
have won comfortably. However the failings that we had under McAllister have
come back - profligacy in front of goal and an inability to defend corners -
and both are costing us points.
Apart from the goal they had only one real chance when the forward was totally
unmarked down our left hand side and should have scored but Casper saved well.
For us Becchio had his usual header from 4yds - this time he missed. Beckford
should have had 3 or more and did hit the post, a defensive header hit the
bar, keeper made a few saves and Snoddy burst into the box and looked certain to
score but his touch deserted him, We had a few other chances. The goal came on
70mins when after a bit of a scramble the ball came to McSheffrey by the post
but instead of shooting he put it across goal and Beckford scored with a tap
in. We did try and get the winner but to no avail. Dickov came on to chorus of
groans and had a push and shove with one of theirs as he waited for the game to
re-start -his first touch was awful each time he got the ball , did not look
like am ex Prem player. Howson and Lubo were  both very poor and overall the
whole game was a disappointment and not the fillip I was looking for and not
what is needed either for promotion or on the day fans were getting their ST
renewal forms with an increase
 in prices
