Three things: 1. It's not the despair it's the hope. when someone wrote earlier this week that we could be two points behind frikkin Delia frikkin Smith's team this weekend, I believed it. I temembered West Ham in 92 and thought whoever was playing Millwall today could pull the same stunt. Alas, it was not to be - but there are still 24 points to fight for. It has been a very bad week - but did we not also lose 4 - 0 to Man City in the 92 Championship run in - in April no less. Hope still lives. 2. Promotion. We will be promoted. This is the year. We will cling on to second place. Barely. We will limp into Division 2. 3. But then what? That is what worries me - repeating the form from August - January would put us up with 110 points and in a position to inspire fear in everyone else in the Championship. That will not happen. The reality of perpetual struggle has suddenly dawned on me, and I am sorry - a great afternoon in the pub vs Spurs and Salford United does not cut it for me. I want more, I want better.
