I was worried about the defence without Kisnorbo before the game, but Collins was very solid and Naylor had a better game than usual recently. Hughes wasnt great but Lowry improved as the game went on, and though clearly a CB playing LB he started to get a bit more confidence going forward.
I thought we played very narrow, which meant the full-backs were our only real wide option. Snoddy was often in the middle and although Howson tried to stick to the right we know he doesnt really belong there. Kilkenny had a good game, (and had a right strop when subbed) partly due to us packing the midfield a bit and i thought Doyle was decent as well. Upfront we looked a bit lightweight, Beckford worked hard, often tracking back to cover the space in the wide positions but apart from one long ball which he couldnt quite control didnt really have many chances. For me Grella flatters to deceive, a neat and tidy player but he's just not got any oomphf - doesnt seem to have the pace, height or skill you need to unsettle a defence. I was actually wanting Kandol on earlier but i dont suppose we'll ever see him again now - though i have no idea what he was sent off for. The police announced they were keeping us in 'for our own safety' at the end - and then changed their mind due to the hilarity this announcement caused. Oh well - a shot on target at least this week - maybe we'll score next week Matt --- On Sun, 28/3/10, Richard Walker <[email protected]> wrote: I am fairly positive after yesterday - the new lad at the back looks reasonable and i thought Lowry did well at left back. I think if we can keep that work rate up and keep Becchio out of the team we might still have a chance. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
