I'm ambivalent about the World Cup coming to the UK, but one thing that struck
me was the lack of explanation (so far) about what Triesman actually said. Were
they just a joke (badly done), was it just a hunch, or did/does he have some
actual evidence to back up what is a fairly bizarre and random statement??

If Triesman genuinely held these views I'd be more than interested to know why?
That said, if they're true then he'll do well to stay alive as presumably
Russia's darker forces would be involved?
