Some good points raised here (although sensible arguments. And of course, the
usual pack of ill-informed handwringers, defending some of the most absurd
anti-drug laws in the world. Help drug addicts, don't criminalize them. In some
parts of the US, one of the most rabid anti-drug countries in the world (yet
one of the largest exporters of alcohol and tobacco) there are states where
there are NO state sponsored rehabilitation programs. Its jail, or NOTHING.
Case in point? The lad mentioned on the original thread: Billy Burton. Do any
of you anti-drug crusaders really think 12 pounds of skunk is worth 30 years in
one of the hardest prisons in the world? Or maybe he should just be put to
death?
None of this shit is good for you. But when you reduce the arguments down to
"well this is slightly worse" or this is "slightly stronger", its all just
semantics. Alcohol and tobacco are two of the worst poisons inflicted on our
fellow man, yet we attack pot, cocaine, and ecstasy and the like as the worst
things in the world. Anything is shit for you if you take too much of it, but
the idea that the two most dangerous things out of the 5 I have just listed are
the only legal ones, now that is crazier than Dr. Mike.
