(Snip thoughts) I try not to give a shit about England and only watch friendlies when Leeds or ex-Leeds are involved but in spite of serial disappointments since the euphoria of 1966 I still find myself getting dragged in when it's games that matter. I'm never surprised though when things go pear-shaped and usually the football we play is dire. I am much less tolerant of our short-comings these days than I used to be, bearing in mind the exorbitant sums these wankers are paid to play like shit on a regular basis. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't know from seeing them from time to time on Match of the Day that they really can play until they pull on an England shirt. We only have one or two (if any) world class players but can sometimes make up for that by our team play or the sheer effort that the lesser players put in. When our supposed world class players (Rooney? Gerrard?) are shite, as they have been this time, then we're fucked.
If the ungiven goal had been allowed then it would/could have changed the game. We were caught out on the counter-attack because we were pushing for an equaliser that we wouldn't have needed to have pushed for, and the young German side may have become rattled at having seen a two-goal lead disappear but at the end of the day we got exactly what we deserved. That's no excuse for not having goal-line technology in this day and age though and I'd be saying the same if it had been Germany who'd had the goal disallowed. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
