I made it for the Airdrie game - 0-0 I think - you can never be sure in these games!! They had one disallowed, but a draw was fair. Lards played OK. A good goalie that's for sure. Sad to say but apart from Betty and Dave Woolmer I didn't 'know' anyone - oh,. Alan Dellow on the pitch I noticed, cursing whenever he missed a tackle, which was funny. Game played in the spirit of the tournament, unlike the Southampton v Lens game, where 3 were sent off at the same time for 3 separate incidents (2 from Southampton). Southamptons knuckle-dragging centre-back lost it completely and needed restraining by his own team, although he was the sinner. Oh la la indeed. Thought it might all continue off the pitch, but Lens had twice as big a squad, and they were singing some French ditty post-game so Southampton went off for fresh lobotomies. and then it was Sheesh Mahal time - ah, anyone else got a favourite curry-house???

To: [email protected], "'LEEDS LIST'" <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, 25 July, 2010, 17:37 Thanks for the update Betty I went along yesterday Morning to see the guys play - missed the first game against Lens, but I still managed to blag one of the goodies they left (an RC Lens pen) which the Lards narrowly lost 1-0 - hard luck guys I did see the whole of the game against Southampton, whom I thought all the way through were there for the taking, and that we were the better team and looked much stronger in attack - however due to various reasons the game was lost 2-1. The Leeds goal was a belter, scored from a very narrow angle and one the scorer (who? Can't recall his name, sorry) can justifiably be proud, Hell it would be classed as a good goal if scored by a member of the first team in a real league game at ER - it really was that good. We should have had another equaliser mid way through the second half but the good work done by the striker concerned (don't know his name either) was lost when his close in shot was somehow off target. I couldn't stay for the Aidrie game as I was under instruction to take our lass to the garden centre, so I had no choice in the matter. Good to see you all play lads, and even gooder to see that at least a full team (and a few more) turned up, unlike some previous years! :-) Cheers Steve Gillen P.S. where was the much publicised food table then? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: 25 July 2010 13:25 To: LEEDS LIST Subject: [LU] Lards Latest - time to go! The newly revived Leeds Lards crashed out in a penalty shoot out 1st round thriller at Bodington Hall today. Earlier in the morning they had beaten Exeter 1 nil but their next match against a lively Everton Vets ended 1-1 with the Lards heading home after losing 5-6 in the penalty shoot out which took place under the blazing Yorkshire sunshine. Captain Woolmer the Lards supremo confirmed that he will be building on the strengths of his new team members and would be back for another shot at the UK's biggest and best tournament at a university Hall of Residence in North Leeds. Full details, including Lards day one successes in their group, are online at worldnet.org.uk Leeds lister, Dave Roberts said "I need a pint". And long serving Lardist, Alan Dellow agreed saying "I'd like two pints please". "This is what we do without the Totty twins", quipped the jubilant Captain Woolmer. Anyone wanting to join the lards for a return to IFA League action later this year should contact Captain Woolmer.
