It was another quality year. Thanks as ever to the remarkable Messrs Boocock and Goodair. A great atmosphere and camaraderie about the whole tournament as ever/
We had a very decent team / squad this year, for the first time for a few years. As Betty and others already alluded to, we lost to Lens (1-0) and Southampton (2-1) on day one in matches we really bossed and another day with better finishing would have won comfortably. The Lens keeper was superb. We then drew with Airdrie in a real tight tough match. Day 2 we beat a poor Exeter team 1-0 but more comfortably than that suggests. A really cracking 1-1 (AET) draw with Everton brought back memories of Lards clashes of yesteryear. Somehow we then lost the penalty shoot-out 6-5 after 9 pens each. Though I have to point I finally scored a penalty in a WorldNet shoot out (as did Mr Dellow)! I think with a few more matches together we would have been real contenders to have won the event this year. As Da Rev said, only me and Al Dellow of Lards of old playing, though both Rick and Dean have been turning out for a few years now with the Lards (though not listers). Would be great to have more listers along next year - both old faces and new - get planning now for next July! Once I've moved back to Leeds in September, I will also work with Mr Boocock to see if we can get some more regular pre-Leeds United match friendlies against visiting teams going - do let me know if you'd be interested.
