Its amazing what you can do when you need to get it done. ;-)
I used two "C" clamps and a pipe clamp to set the pressure. I used a straight
edge to make sure the two centers were aligned. All that this realy did was to
hold a odd ball taper so that it was straight with the rails, and then I roped
it.
I have not use this set up but once, but it did work.
The adjustable live center is realy what I was and am looking to ether find or
make, My biggest problem was how to hold the angle so it would not slip. That
was until last night, when Mike suggested to make a wooden brace. The idea hit
me. If I make a bracket to mate up to the side rails and the tail stock, I can
use the tail stock to make the pressure needed to hold the work piece, and the
rails would hold the correct angle necessary to keep everything aligned.
I will make a wooden mock-up and then make it out of steel in the next few
weeks.
If you or anyone out there has any ideas that might help make this idea work,
Please feel free to suggest , Im open to any and all idea.

talk to you.
latter.

So you clamp or screw the adjustable tailstock to the bench? I would have
thought that the centers would have to be aligned to hold the piece firmly.

    Hello Guys.
Here is my jig. as well as a set up for an adjustable live center that I've
been wanting to make.
They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, so I better stop here before this
message becomes a novel. ;-)

    Talk to you all latter.
