Curt.. Just a quickie.. The bridgeport design, utilizing R&P and ballscrew, works well as there is an abundance of power available.. When transmitting power through so many systems there is an inevitable drop in torque.. Cheapo cnc systems are only cheap if you can utilize inexpensive stepper motors.. Mine are 3N which means everything must be light and care must be taken to transmit maximum torque throughout.. A comparison can be made with rear wheel and front wheel drive cars.. the front wheel drive cars have more HP than rear wheel due to torque loss through the rear drive shaft..
