Hello BOB!
We have had a few conversations on this topic before. I just feel that moving the follower to the front of the machine offers a lot of advantages. First off my machine is mounted on my work bench,so getting to the back side of the machine is not all that easy for me. The concept is pretty straight forward. (so to speak.) The problems came with the details. I used the router as the way I attached the follower to the Legacy, instead of the carriage (Like Legacy did.) The main reason why I did it this way was, to get around (above actually) the locking drive nut on the machine. It also makes in much easer to remove when not in use. I used a product called Uni-strut. to make my rail for my follower to ride on. Simple "T"bolts and knobs hold the strut down onto the Legacy rail, It was an easy and cheap way to get the job done. Template following is an easy way to make more complex types of cuts on the Legacy, slight curves and small radius are made very easily by cutting from the side. Template also make fluting and reeding much easer as well. The use of templates is one element of the Legacy that I have not fully covered in the past, I use template a lot on my lathe duplicator, and it makes my life much easer because of them. I want to explore more of the possibilities that are out there for us.(Legacy users)
I think of it as the poor man's CNC. ;-)

Have a good night.
