Hello Steve,

Welcome to The Group.  Based on your questions and "issues", you have come to the best place to get suggestions, answers, and information.  There are a number of "active" members that will "chime in" soon and help you with your new mill.
You mention that you acquired a Model 900.  What came with it - mounting stand with or without casters, router, Linear Drive Kit, Z-axis upgrade?

Did you get any accessories with it?  If so, what were they? (By accessories, I'm meaning Rotary Indexing Table, Horizontal Vise, Vertical Vise, Template Follower and Templates, etc.)

Perhaps the easiest thing you can do to address ALL of the above is to post some pictures of what you have.  And in light of what you describe as some of your "issues", I recommend close-up photos of those areas/parts.  That will be a BIG help to any Group member wanting to provide you advice or a solution.

Tim, our Group Guru, should be able to link you to an on-line download of the manual for your machine.  He will most likely "Welcome" you as well - especially when he sees several of us other members putting in our 2-cent's worth.

If you don't mind, can you give us some idea of where you live - not specific address, just nearby big town/city and state.

We would also be interested in knowing:
1.  How'd you come by the Mill (CraigsList, yard sale, eBay, etc.)?
2.  How'd you find out about our Google Group?  I know Tim, (our Group Guru) among others, will be very interested in knowing this.  We each try to spread the word - but we don't know how effective that is without feedback from "new" members.

Again, Welcome! and we look forward to hearing/seeing more from you.

Mac (I'm in N. VA)

Subject: Intro and a few questions

Hi all,

My name is Steve. I have been working wood for over 40 years, on and off.

I just purchased a Legacy 900, and need some parts, but would like to have access to a manual so I can finish putting it together and determine for sure what I need. It appears to have been tipped over, as both the drive screws were bent, and the handle on the cross feed crank is missing. I straightened out the lead screws, already. I got it cheaply enough that if I can't get the parts I need, I'll use it as a lathe stand and sell off the other bits. Or, I could integrate it with my lathe; that would be interesting. It would be cool to be able to turn with a variable angle on the feed, instead of free-hand.

What I know I need right off the bat is the smooth side of the split nut for the long lead screw. It also got broken in the accident. Handles I can make. I'm also missing the big gear with all the indexing holes.

Does anyone have an electronic copy of the assembly instructions, and more importantly, pics or a parts list? At least then I can ask intelligent questions about this thing.

Thanks,
Steve
